These are becoming mainstream for the young outdoorsman. But they are also great for old people with balance impairment or knee problems.

I purchased the Leki Sierra to function both as a hiking aid and as a monopod for photography. The pole is very light let sturdy. Pleased with the quality of the materials. A true monopod would be a bit longer allowing easier viewing at eye level; when using my eye level finder on the Leki I need to stoop a bit. One of my cameras, Panasonic G1, has a lcd screen that swivels allowing composition while looking down at the screen. The pole collapses sufficiently to fit in my larger suitcase … handy for travel.

The Leki Serra Antishock Trekkking Pole is a very elegant, beautiful and well-build trekking and walking stick that you would not regret spending money on. Furthermore, if you have not owned a camera mono-pod, this pole is what you should buy. Very light, small and sturdy, it can support most cameras and camcorders. Its anti-shock capability offers comfort to your hands and your camera. People often take a glance at my Leki when I have my camera on it. A monopod would become very useful if equipped with a head ball to offer extra degree of freedom in camera orientation. The MagMoumt head ball by Teck-Teck fits to the Leki as if it's specifically designed for; you can even put the Leki's knob on it
As a mopmopod, the Leki is about two inches shorter than the Manfrotto 676B when fully extended. Completely retracted, it's about eight inches longer but can still fit into your suitcase. It can be detached into three short pieces if need be.

I have the Leki for more than ten years already and I am still very fond of it.

I have a bit of sciatica and now and then I need a cane. Someone lent me their Leki Sierra walking stick. I loved it. Unfortunately they wanted it back. (I can see why). It has a sort of shock absorber in it and it was very comfortable to use. I had to get my own. I will also use it as a monopod for my camera, but as a cane it is very functional and elegant enough not to be pretentious.

The LEKI Sirra Trekking pole is attractive, functional and veratile. I’m not a big trekker, but the pole is great for urban walks and hikes. Actually, I’ve used it much more as a single pole camera tripod. Setting the camera on the timer, one can lift the pole high over your head and capture interesting shots.
